Al Bundy

We've got our own little Al Bundy in the family.  I apologize if anyone is offended by the picture, but Savannah refuses to wear pj's.  She loves them when she is awake, but they will be off before morning.

**The black thing around her waist is her insulin pump and the white tube is her feeding machine.

Majority Rules

We live in a country where the majority rules!  Anyone shocked by this news?  Seriously, I am so sick of hearing celebrities on the news or hearing of protests in front of our sacred Temples.  Enough is enough.  The majority has spoken and no matter how much I whine, cry or complain nothing is going to change the fact that I have to live with Obama as a President.  Well same rule applies to prop's 8 & 102 - the majority has spoken and marriage is between a man and a woman.

I don't feel like I am being hateful or prejudice towards the gay community at all.  If they want to have a civil unions - go ahead.  If they want to share health care - go ahead.  If they want to file joint taxes - go ahead.  However, don't refer to your domestic partnership as a marriage, because it is not.  One of our purposes for being here on this earth is to "multiply and replenish."  This is not physically possible in a homosexual relationship.

I realize that the divorce rate proves that we straight people have issues of our own.  We, at least the ones I know, are not claiming to be perfect in any way, shape or form.  This is not a political issue.  This is a MORAL issue!!  Anyone recall the story of Sodom and Gomorrah?  As members of the church we are taught not to judge.  It is possible to love the sinner and hate the sin.  It is possible because WE ARE ALL SINNERS!!!  With that said, just because I love them does not mean I have to accept or condone their homosexual lifestyle.  Anyway, back to my main point - the majority rules.  I hope that during my lifetime the "majority" will stay within the boundaries that the Lord has set.

Sad, yet Proud American

I am so sad tonight.  I have literally shed tears over the fact that the President Elect of this great country believes in such horrible things like abortion and same-sex marriage.  I have literally felt like throwing up several times tonight.  As if it wasn't hard enough to raise kids to do the right things in life...our job has just become a lot harder.

With that said, I am still so grateful to live in this amazing Country!  I am thankful for the many men and women that put their lives on the line each and everyday to protect our freedoms.  We need to pray for them and pray REALLY hard for the new President.

Kids DO listen...sometimes

So last Sunday, Jay and I laid down to take a nap.  Savannah woke me up to ask if she could have a piece of bread.  She checked her own blood sugar and was able to eat the bread.  So Jay goes downstairs to correct her blood.  He finds that the girls had ripped the bread into small pieces of bread and were giving the Sacrament to each other.  We had a talk with them about how special the Sacrament is and why it is we only do it at church.  The cute part was that Shayde so politely reminded Savannah that she should only use her right hand.  At least she listens to something!

Future Cheerleaders

video

Seriously...my girls make me laugh so hard!  Savannah can't keep from laughing and Shayde looks like a spastic when she turns!  I love it!  Sorry about the crappy quality - I had to use my cell phone.  You know my camera that Jay is not allowed to use...well it's hunting season and he stole my camera.

Shayde's Prayer

Let me preface this prayer...  The girls were not listening and Shayde stuck her "booty" at me.  Savannah laughed...so they both got swats right before the prayer.  So here is Shayde's prayer:

Please bless that mom will be nice to us, that we will be good kids and that when mom is mean to us...Jesus will be meaner to her. Amen

Funny stuff.

The Women

I went with my friend Jenny to the movies tonight.  We saw "The Women"...little disappointed to say the least.  It was not the chick flick I hoped it would be.  Oh well Jenny and I had fun.

I came home and had a little too much fun with photo booth on the Mac.  I don't care who you are...these are funny.

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

McCain - 0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

Obama - 28% on profit from ALL home sales. (How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.)

DIVIDEND TAX

McCain - 15% (no change)

Obama - 39.6% - (How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.)

INCOME TAX

McCain - (no changes)
Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

Obama - (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)
Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750
** Under Obama our taxes could almost double **

Inheritance Tax

McCain - 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

Obama - Restore the inheritance tax (Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, & homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.)

New Taxes Proposed by Obama

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 sqft. New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already). New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity). New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least...New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

***I can't take credit for this information on my blog. It was in an e-mail that I received. However, I will take credit for passing the information along. I am completely disturbed by Barack Obama. I don't know how anyone can vote for someone who does not believe in being a self-sufficient "energy speaking" country. Also, even though there are more issues than this - I could NEVER vote for anyone who supports abortion! I know we have our free agency, but there is a time and a place for the law to step in. We don't believe in murder and support the law stepping in to punish when a murder is committed. So why can't the law step in and prevent a murder of someone who doesn't have a voice? AAAHHHGGGGGHHHH!!! I'll step off my soapbox now! Go out and VOTE - VOTE - VOTE!!!

Funny Girl

I have a lot of posting to catch up on. My kids spent a week with my mom at Camp Grandma (thanks to Livia), then we went camping with Jay near the Grand Canyon...yea that is an experience that I will not be having again anytime soon! Then we spent a couple of days with the Rhoton clan in Flagstaff then we were off to Rocky Point!!! It was a busy July, but tons of fun! Oh yea, and I GOT A JOB!!! YIPEE!!!

Anyway, the whole point of my post is to share something so precious about Savannah. Jay took each of his girls on a one on one date. Since time with him is limited - we all wanted some alone time with him. He took Shayde to see Space Chimps on Friday, then took Savannah to see the same movie on Saturday. We then got a babysitter so we could go on our date. When we got home Shayde was KO'd like she normally is once 9PM hits. Savannah our little night owl was still up when I got home from dropping the babysitter home. She kindly reminded me that we still had not read scriptures or said prayers. I told her that it was too late to read scriptures, but we could still have prayer together. She starts the prayer and falls asleep right in the middle of it. I was laughing so hard, my body was shaking. As I type this, it doesn't seem too funny, but it was at the time. Anyway, I'll post all the pictures later.

Summer Vacation

We have been on several mini-vacations this summer. My girls went to my mom and dad's for a week. It was AWESOME!!! I went up there to get them and stayed for 4 days. We got back, unpacked and now are re-packing to go camping with Jay for a week. I will post pictures when we get back. Hope you all are having a GREAT SUMMER!!!

PRANK CALLERS

These are the sweet faces of PRANK CALLERS!!!! I don't know what I am going to do with my kids. Anytime they can, they will pick up my phone take as many random pictures as they can and call EVERYONE on my speed dial settings. Thankfully the majority of them are my immediate family, however it still ticks me off. Shayde called my brother Logan and hung up on him. He called back and she answered the phone, "Hello, this is Nicole. To leave me a message press 1, 2, 3 and 4," then hung up on him again. It's pretty funny - I must admit, but I've told her a million times not to do it. So, after getting in trouble for the umpteenth time I caught her doing it again.

Mom: Shayde, I've told you not to do that. Seriously what is your deal?
Shayde: My brain keeps telling me to do it. I think you better call the doctor!

Doctor is right. My kids are going to need some serious therapy.

10 YEARS...

1998 2008
We have been married for 10 years already. Who knew? Somedays I thought he'd never survive the day, but that is just how every marriage is...hard work...and VERY rewarding. I love my husband and I love my life. Here are my top 5 reasons why I love my hubby...

1. Fun to be around
2. Fun to look at - he's "hot sauce"
3. Very Talented
4. Amazing Father
5. Awesome Friend

(Notice that my favorite things about my hubby have nothing to do with his ability to hunt :D)

Shane and Shannon Rhoton were in town on their way to Alaska. We were so excited to spend some time with them. We went to dinner at Cracker Barrel then we went to the D-Backs game. It was a lot of fun with great company.

Anyway, I love you Jay and look forward to eternity with you.

Mother's Day Bitterness

I'm barely able to post about Mother's Day since it was not the finest of days for me. First let me start with the wonderful gifts I was given...try not to be jealous!

Yup, that's right girls...I got a pull up bar and the Perfect Pushup! Nothing says happy Mother's Day (or drop a few pounds) like exercise equipment! When the girls brought out my presents I said "Oh, look girls - Daddy got himself a Mother's Day present." In Jay's defense I asked him if he liked these a couple of months ago. DUH, that was for HIM...not for me. I couldn't even do a pull up when I less than 100 lbs. There is not a snowballs chance in hell that I would be able to do it now. What the heck? Seriously - WHAT THE HELL!?!?!? I am making a list for Jay from now on. Oh and for Father's Day...I'm thinking of getting Jay a sewing machine! Anybody have any better ideas?

The only funny part about it was that I whispered to Savannah, "go tell daddy that I want flowers for Mother's Day." She smiles at me and walks over to Jay to deliver the message. "Dad, Mom wants the 'f' word for Mother's Day." I almost died - I couldn't breathe! After we composed ourselves - Jay tried told her that wasn't nice because the 'f' word means fart and mom doesn't want farts for Mother's Day! Then Savannah says, "No, Dad! The 'f' word is FLOWERS!"

I must look on the bright side...in terms of gifts, Jay has no where to go but up! Good thing he makes up for stupid gifts by being a wonderful husband and pretty much the perfect Dad!

Funny Girl

Shayde is a funny girl! I have to post our little talk.

Shayde: Mom can you come in here - I need to tell you something. (She is sitting on the toilet) I tooted and accidently got a little on my undies.
Mom: It's ok give me your undies and I will wash them out. ( I look in the toilet and she has rock hard poops, but the stuff on the undies is perfectly brown and creamy. After further inspection, I realize what it is.) Shayde, this isn't poop - you have chocolate in your undies.
Shayde: WHOA! HOW DID I GET THAT TO COME OUT OF MY BUM????

Seriously - this kid CRACKS me up!!!

Bon Jovi Baby!!!

OK! OK! I know it is totally 80's, but I went to the Bon Jovi concert with 5 of my girlfriends and we had a BLAST!! It was fun to relive the past! There were some idiots that were in a couple of our seats. It was no big deal until the couple came mid-concert and wanted their seats...so we kindly asked the other people to move. They were such jerks and would not move out of our seats. I had to go and get security to move them. Other than that it was a blast. Jill was the only one who took in a camera so I stole some pictures off her blog.

We're ready to Rock 'n Roll!

I know Jon is better looking but there is just something about Richie that is just...YUM! Almost worth risking your Eternal Salvation...almost!!

The next day we went to a baby shower for one of my best friends, Shannon. Isn't she so cute pregnant? We are so excited for her and her hubby to have their little boy. Shane is being a stinker and won't even give us a clue as to the baby's name. I'm a little bitter about it. :)

This is a picture of Jill and I at the Shower. She is seriously one of the funnest (is that a word?) people you will ever meet. Gotta love the Rhoton's!

Savannah lost her first tooth! YIPEE!!

video

I'm glad they were on Jay's side of the bed. You'll understand why after watching Shayde!

Daddy putting floss around the tooth

Torture is over!

Showing off what the Tooth Fairy left! Can you tell she dressed herself today?

Tagged - First Time

I've been tagged by Megan. This is my first tag. I like reading other peoples, but not too sure if I like filling them out. Here we go...
The rules of the game

1) Each player answers the questions about themselves.
2) At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

How long have you and your husband been together? 11.5 years.
How long did you date? 15 months. Forever in the LDS world.
Who eats more? Um...that would be Jay. He is a human garbage disposal!
Who said I love you first? Jay did and my response was, "Thank you!" How lame is that?
Who pays the bills? I do, but I wish he did!!
Who cooks dinner? Me. Jay brags on how good of a cook he was on his mission, but all he has ever graced us with is bean burros! Gas, anyone?
Who is more stubborn? That would most definately be me!
Who kissed who first? He kissed me first! It was after a singles fireside at EA. We were standing outside his Grandma's house. He is a fabulous kisser! :)
Who is more sensitive? Again...it's me.
Who wears the pants? Depends on who you ask! I'm pretty strong headed and usually have to have the last word on everything. Ask my poor family!
What was I doing 10 years ago? I was getting ready for my May wedding! Fun stuff!
What snacks do I enjoy? Diet Dr. Pepper w/ vanilla from Sonic and apples with string cheese
What would I do if I were suddenly a billionaire? I wouldn't worry about insurance or Savannah's medical bills! That would be a major stress reliever. Oh yea - PLASTIC SURGERY! Definately a tummy tuck - I have serious "twin skin" - not that anyone needed a visual.
3 bad habits? Diet Dr. Pepperaholic. Serious procrastinator and like Megan, I'm a face picker. Gross I know, but don't act like you don't do it too.
5 things people don't know about me.
I toilet papered my own house so that our neighbors wouldn't think it was me that did it.
I hardly ever stick my face under water while swimming. Too many rear ends in the water and I'm not totally convinced that chlorine works.
I seem to always stick my foot in my mouth!
I archery hunt with my cute hubby - that is something I NEVER would have done when I was younger!
I'm not as bad as Tiffany, but I have a little road rage. I consider myself somewhat of a honkaholic! If Jay is driving and I think somebody needs reprimanding I will reach over and honk for him. Jay has threatened several times to break my hand if I do it again! He loves me!

I tag Amber, Cami D. and Annie

The Two Tornados

Jay has had the girls at home with him this week because they are on Spring Break. I will post pictures later, but it looks like a tornado has hit our home! The house looks like absolute CRAP, but oh how I would love to be a fly on the wall watching Jay being Mr. Mom. This morning Jay tried to get the girls to help him clean the house. Here is the conversation as Jay told it to me:

Jay: Girls, we need to go downstairs and clean the front room.
Shayde: Dad, I can't my throat hurts!
Jay: Yes you can. You can clean even if your throat hurts.
Shayde: Well, my brain hurts too and it is telling me I don't have to clean.
Jay: GIRLS GET DOWN THERE NOW AND START CLEANING!
Savannah: Well Dad, you better have your rear down there helping in 5 seconds or I am going to whip your tail end!

Got to love mouthy kids. Like I said - I'd give anything to be a fly on the wall. Guarantee Jay will have a new respect for stay at home Mom's by the end of the week.

PS - He has been too tired to make dinner this week. Hmmmm....I wonder why?

Temple Day

Reilly's cute fiance, Megan Johnson ...soon to be Price

Reilly's fiance Megan took out her Endowments on Thursday. She is a really cute girl and is perfect for Reilly. It was dark outside so the pictures are not that great. We were super sad that Amy, Mike and their family couldn't make it from Virginia, but we thought of them this weekend.

Tiffany and Megan had problems making an "M"

Here we are saving a place for Amy

In honor of Mike...Flared Nostrils

The "Hole"

This is really not blog appropriate, but since this is like a journal...AND because I don't want to forget, I have to post it. Shayde came home from school today and told me she fell on her va-jay-jay. The story goes like this:
Shayde - "Mom, I fell on the bar - right here (pointing to herself). I fell so hard and it hurt really bad.
Mom - "I'm sorry sister, that must of hurt"
Shayde - "Yea, it did. I went to the bathroom to see if it was bleeding - MOM IT WASN'T BLEEDING **pause** THERE IS A REALLY BIG HOLE. I think you need to call the doctor!"
I can't even tell you how hard I was laughing - I couldn't breathe. I tried to tell her that that is where babies come out of, but she insisted that Heavenly Father puts them in your belly and the doctor cuts them out. I just had to agree with her. Knowing my Shayde, if I told her where they really came from her WHOLE kindergarten class would know. And since I am not ready for the Kindergarten Cop, "boys have a penis, girls have a vagina" fiasco -- I just have to let it go. I know -- I am the worlds worst parent! Any volunteers to teach my kids about the birds and the bees?

***Sonic FREAK***

For those who didn't know I am pretty much addicted to Sonic's Diet Dr. Pepper with extra ice and Vanilla. YUM. I used to stop every morning on my way to work -- I was soon on a first name basis with the morning crew -- Pathetic I know! Jay told Savannah that we didn't drink soda anymore and her tender response was, "Dad, Pam can make more soda." I then had to tell him that Pam was the lady that worked at Sonic. Jay thinks I need an intervention!
It was a sad day when Pam no longer worked at Sonic. My routine stayed the same until Johnny no longer worked there. I would only go to Sonic once a week to get their cup then I would refill that cup all week at Q.T.
I broke my cup today so I went to a Sonic next to my Chiropractors office. I ordered my usual and I got to the window to pay an to my suprise Johnny was there! He started to yell..."Pam it's Nicole...I told you it was her...I can't believe it. How are you doing, girl..." I took a few minutes to catch up with them. I was just as excited to see them ... and I got my drink 1/2 off since they still consider me a regular!!! Gotta love Pam and Johnny!

Utah Fun!

Jay and I went to Salt Lake City at the beginning of February with our friends Shane & Shannon Rhoton and Chad and Amber Rhoton. We had a lot of fun. Jay and I stayed at my sister Tiffany's house. Tiff has a Mac computer and Jay, Amber and I took turns in the photo booth -- I seriously almost wet my pants from laughing. In case you can't tell who is who...

Nicole

The best one of Amber can't be posted because I was standing behind her in only a towel. Sorry Amber!

Jay...Isn't my hubby dreamy?

Prophet of God

It goes without saying that President Hinckley will be so very missed. He was the cutest thing ever! I loved his humor and how much fun he made Conference. Today, Jay and I told the girls that President Hinckley died and went to Heaven. The girls were very understanding. Savannah asked how he died and we told her he was 97 years old. She did the dramatic ...uuuuhh -- that is as older than Sugar (her babysitters dog that just died). Then she said, "Mom, I miss Heavenly Hinckley." Shayde was quick to correct her to President, but it was cute.
I am truly grateful for the time that he spent as our Prophet! It's times like these that help you to reflect on your blessings and your testimony -- and I am thankful for both.

Girls Bedroom

My friend Amber came this last weekend and we were finally able to start on the girls room. We only have a couple of things left to put on the wall and then it will be finished. I love it and more importantly the girls love it. Shayde woke up the day after and said, "Come on Savannah, lets go make our beds!" That right there made it worth everything.
